WP Leader: IBK-Innovation GMBH & CO. KG (IBK)
WP4 addresses design solutions to increase safety of conventional and unconventional aircrafts and helicopters and is subdivided into two sub-tasks, both of them focusing on different solution levels:
- Task 4.1 tackles local approaches, so attempts to understand how the structure locally acts upon ditching and how, from a design point of view, a solution towards reducing structural risks and improving safety can be realised. The scope of Task 4.1 is in discussing energy absorbing technologies, aiming at reducing the impact energy.
- Task 4.2 focuses on the global aircraft level and aims at providing an understanding of how unconventional aircraft can be treated during ditching scenarios and therefore understand the configurational effect on ditching. Apart from that also for conventional aircraft the results generated in WP2 (showing in detail how the structure is failing) will be used in order to analyse and propose design improvements to mitigate the damage scenarios observed.
